Choosing a font

All ten fonts are self-hosted and licensed under the SIL Open Font License — see the Licenses page for each one’s attribution. A few notes on picking one:

• Anton, Archivo Black, Bebas Neue and Oswald are bold, uniform-stroke fonts — the safest choice for small text or a keychain, since thin strokes are what breaks on a print.
• Allerta Stencil has no floating “islands”: every counter (the hole in an O or A) is already bridged by the font itself, so it prints cleanly with no separate plate needed even at small sizes.
• Playfair Display and Caveat are a decorative serif and a script face — beautiful at a larger size, but check the tool’s own warning if you shrink the text down; thin strokes on these two specifically can drop below a printable width before the others do.

Style guide

• Raised: text stands proud of the plate. The classic look; prints in one color as one body.
• Engraved: text is a recessed pocket cut into the plate. Fill it with a contrasting paint or marker after printing for a two-tone look from one filament.
• Two colors for Raised or Engraved: turn on “Separate parts for two colors” and the 3MF holds the plate and the text as two bodies, so each can be its own filament (raised text sits on top of the plate; engraved text fills its recess exactly).
• Inlay (two-color): the plate and the text are two separate bodies, the text filling a matching recess that stops short of the back (set its depth with Text height), meant for a filament change or a second-color print — the real reason to reach for this generator’s multi-body export.

Print settings

• Orientation: print flat, face up. No supports needed for any of the built-in shapes.
• Keyring hole: sized for a standard split ring; if it’s snug on your printer, ream it out slightly with a drill bit rather than reprinting at a larger diameter. Interior cuts the hole into the plate or border itself — pick a position, then nudge it left/right or up/down from there if it lands too close to the text. Exterior welds a small loop onto the edge instead, so it works even with no border (or with plate shape “None”); the loop is intentionally thin, so print it solid rather than at a sparse infill.

FAQ

A character from my text is missing. The chosen font doesn’t include it — the tool lists exactly which characters were skipped. Try a different font, or substitute the character.

The text looks too thin to print reliably. Increase the text size, or switch to one of the bolder fonts (Anton, Archivo Black, Bebas Neue, Oswald) — the tool warns when the estimated stroke width gets close to what most nozzles can reliably resolve.
