About the rugged case
One real design, scaled to size
This generator reproduces one specific case design exactly, from a real CAD file — not a parametric shape built from independent dimensions. Choose which parts to print: the box and latches, the lid, or both together. The gasket is shown for reference and included only if you ask for everything. A Scale slider resizes the whole assembly by one uniform factor, so the latches, lid and gasket keep fitting each other exactly as they do at 100% — it can only make the real design bigger or smaller, never reshape it.
Assembly
The two latches print as separate parts (mirror images of each other). The flattened source file didn’t carry where they mount on the box, so glue or weld them into place once printed, matching the box’s own mounting features. Everything else — the box, the lid, the gasket’s shape — is the file’s own real geometry.
Printing
Every part prints in the orientation shown with no supports needed. If you print the gasket, remember it’s a reference for a real seal — use rubber or silicone for an actual gasket, not rigid filament.
FAQ
Can I resize this? Yes, with the Scale control — it scales every part together by the same factor, so the whole assembly still fits itself exactly. What you can’t do is change individual dimensions (wall thickness, a single side’s length) independently; this generator exists to reproduce one specific design, not build a new one.
Where do the latches attach? Print notes explain: the source STEP file didn’t retain assembly-constraint data (STEP only carries final geometry, not a CAD program’s parametric history), so the exact mounting position wasn’t recoverable. Each latch’s own shape is exact; where it sits on the box needs eyeballing against the box’s real mounting features.
Is the gasket meant to be 3D printed? Probably not — it’s included so its shape is visible and available, but a real gasket needs a flexible material (rubber, silicone, or TPU) to actually seal, not the rigid filament most printers use for the box and lid.
Can I edit it in CAD? Yes: the STEP button re-exports the source file’s own solids directly — the same exact geometry, not an approximation.
